Psalm 19:14 (HCSB) May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.
James 3:7-9 (HCSB) For every creature—animal or bird, reptile or fish—is tamed and has been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who are made in God's likeness.

Mommy Lesson 5 - Watch Your Words
Did you know our kids are like little tape recorders? I see it a lot when Little G mimics what I say. I will hear phrases I often say come out of her lips in the cutest fashion. Sometimes what comes out isn’t really what I want to hear. Usually I think through the shows or movies I have let her watch, and then I realize it was me who taught her that and I now have to undo what I didn’t mean to do in the first place. Other times she says the cutest things as she is trying to imitate me but how it sounds is absolutely not what she was saying. Like when she says the word, “ridiculous.” Wow, if I didn’t know already what she was saying I could really be wondering where she was picking up her language. Most of the time what I hear from my kids is what I want to hear, and it makes me smile.
But occasionally I hear something out of one of my kids’ mouths I really don’t want them saying I cringe and then think to when I could have possibly said whatever they said. You see, being completely honest, my mouth can really be hard to tame sometimes. There are moments when what comes out is not what should be said. The scary thing about words, once you say them they are out there and can never be taken back. One must really guard their tongue to not say what should not be said. I can tell you right now that I have learned a lot about taming my tongue from my kids.
