Hot Cocoa Fun

Last Thursday our heater quit working. Luckily it wasn't freezing but it was that damp cold that makes you feel colder than you really are. The HVAC guy is awesome and was on it right away but the part the heater needed was not a part he could just run down to the store for. We had to wait until Tuesday for him to fix it because that is how long it took for the part to arrive. Sooo... we made the best of it.

We had slumber parties in the living room and in the school room (depending on the night) every night. We watched movies, read stories and had lots and lots of hot cocoa. We used our fun special Christmas mugs to make the cocoa taste even better.

We melted these fun Caramel Apple Hershey's Kisses in the cocoa.

We floated scoops of yummy Vanilla Bean ice-cream in our cocoa.

We stirred our hot cocoas with candy canes. One of my most favorite things to use as a stirrer in my hot cocoa.

Of course no hot cocoa is complete
- without toppings -

Like the classic, marshmallows.

Or marshmallows topped with sprinkles.

Or you could be like us and just go all out by adding whip cream, chocolate sauce and a cherry on top.

Next time you make hot cocoa, think of something fun you can put in it. There really are no rules for hot cocoa, you can even put chili powder in it if you like a kick in your chocolate. It's entirely up to you.
